Therapy Modalities

Schema Therapy

At its core, Schema Therapy focuses on identifying and addressing maladaptive schemas—deeply ingrained patterns of thought, emotion, and behavior that typically develop in childhood and influence current functioning. These schemas are often triggered in adulthood, leading to distress and unhelpful coping mechanisms.

Exposure Response Prevention Therapy

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy is a specialised form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) designed to treat anxiety disorders, particularly Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). It helps individuals confront their fears in a gradual and controlled way while resisting the urge to engage in compulsive behaviours. Through ERP, we gradually become desensitised to our triggers, gain confidence in managing anxiety, and develop healthier ways to cope. It is a structured, collaborative process tailored to the individual's specific challenges.

Mindfulness therapy

Mindfulness therapy focuses on cultivating present-moment awareness and acceptance of thoughts, feelings, and sensations without judgment. It is effective for managing stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges.

Mindfulness can be integrated into various therapeutic approaches, such as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) or Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). Techniques often include meditation, breathing exercises, and mindful observation of daily activities.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured therapeutic approach that focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thought patterns, behaviors, and emotional responses. It is effective for treating a range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, and more.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT is an evidence-based approach designed to help people manage intense emotions, reduce harmful behaviours, and build healthier relationships. It combines strategies from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) with mindfulness, acceptance, and skills training in four key areas: distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. DBT is particularly effective for individuals who experience emotional dysregulation, self-harming behaviours, or difficulties with impulse control.

Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI)

SFT focuses on identifying and building solutions rather than analysing problems. Individuals are encouraged to recognise their strengths, past successes, and resources to create a vision for the future. MI is a client-centered approach designed to resolve ambivalence and enhance motivation for change. These approaches are especially effective for individuals seeking to make meaningful changes in areas such as health behaviours, relationships, or personal growth.
